1910: MARRIAGE of LOTTIE LEA HAWK to EDWARD CLINGERMAN

On 12 Oct 1910, just a few months after the census was taken, Lottie Hawk married Edward Clingerman. He was to be her first of four husbands.

1912: DEATH of EDWARD CLINGERMAN

Edward died of pneumonia in an Omaha hospital on 14 Dec 1912. He was only 25 years old. Lottie became a widow for the first time, at the age of 21. She and Edward had 2 children from the marriage, Amos Vinton (1911-1986) and Edna Rosella (1912-1990).

1914: MARRIAGE of LOTTIE LEA HAWK CLINGERMAN to GEORGE ENOCH KOPPENHAVER

Two years after Edward Clingerman's death, his widow Lottie remarried. Her second husband was George Enoch Koppenhaver of Broken Bow, Custer, Nebraska. His WWI Draft Registration Card indicates that he was born in Cedar County, Iowa, that he was self-employed and had a wife and 4 children. The draft cards are dated 1917-1918, but 2 of the known children were born after that date. Possible that there were 2 other children who died young, or that George had 2 children from a previous marriage. The 4 known children belonging to Lottie & George were Erma Lucille (1917-2002), Leita Pearl (1918-1918), Carl William (1919-1997), and Naomi Mae (1921-1985).

Lottie's marriage to George Enoch Koppenhaver ended in divorce. It appears that he retained custody of the children. I have not found this family in the 1920 census, but the 1930 census of Aurora, Arapaho, Colorado lists children: Orville, Irma, Carl and Nona living with their divorced father G.E. Koppenhaver.
