George was born in January of 1865 in West Virginia, most likely in Winfield, Marion County, where he along with his parents & siblings were listed in the 1870 census.

1872: DEATH of MOTHER, KATHERINE SAPHIRA WELLS GUTHRIE
Katherine died of unknown causes in 1872 after which the family seems to have been divided up among relatives or places the older boys could find farm work.

1875: BIRTH of NANCY MAUDE LOUDEN
Nancy Maude, aka Maude Nancy, Nancy M., was born on 25 April 1875 in Meade, Upshur, West Virginia, to James S. & Mariah T. Louden. Surname variants: Louden, Loudin, Loudon.

1890: MARRIAGE of GEORGE MORGAN GUTHRIE & NANCY MAUDE LOUDEN
According to the 1900 census, George & Nancy had already been married for 10 years, placing their approximate marriage date in 1890. The marriage most likely took place in Meade, Upshur, West Virginia, which was where the Louden family lived in 1880 and where the Guthries were still located in 1900.

1891: BIRTH of SON, JOHN SANFORD GUTHRIE
John was born on 2 June 1891, the first child of George & Nancy, most likely in Meade, Upshur, West Virginia. He married Daisy Belle Flemming about 1912-13. They had at least 1 sons and 4 daughters. John was working in the Tin Mill in Morgantown as early as 1910. He continued working in Tin Mills when they lived in Star City, Monongalia, WV, and in Butler, Hancock, WV. Both John & Daisy were living at the time of the 1930 census. No further details. There is no current representative from this line in the DNA project.

1894: BIRTH of SON, CLIFFORD EARNEST GUTHRIE
Clifford was born on 27 June 1894 in Buckhannon, Upshur, West Virginia. He was enumerated with the family in 1900 amd 1910. He worked in the Glassworks as a carrier in 1910. I have not found him in the 1920 or 1930 census. In 1942 a WWII Draft Registration Card was found for Clifford P. Guthrie, born on 27 June 1894 in Buckhanna, West Virginia. He was unemployed and living in Granville, Washington, Pennsylvania in 1942 listing his contact person as Maud Guthrie of Coal Center, Pennsylvania RD#1. LRG's book lists him as Earnest Clifford. He married Etta P. Fleming, a sister of Daisy Belle. They had 3 known sons. There is currently no direct representative from Clifford's line.

1897: BIRTH of SON, WILLIS S. GUTHRIE
Willis was born in June of 1897 in Upshur County, West Virginia. He was listed with the family as a 2 year old in the 1900 census, but not after that indicating that he must have died between 1900-1910.

1899: BIRTH of DAUGHTER, LURA LEE GUTHRIE
Lura Lee, aka Lulu, was born in December of 1899. She was enumerated with her parents in 1900 and 1910. She married Alva Hall in 1918 and they had at least 2 sons. They were living in Fayette County, Pennsylvania at the time of the 1930 census. 3 sons. No further details known.

1902: BIRTH of DAUGHTER, ANNA PEARL GUTHRIE
Anna was born about 1902 in West Virginia. She was enumerated as an 8 year old with her parents in the 1910 census. She married twice: 1st to George Clark Scottson, 2nd to Owen Snyder Scott. No further details.

1904: BIRTH of DAUGHTER, MABEL BEATRICE GUTHRIE
Mabel was born about 1904 in West Virginia. She was listed with the family in 1910. She married William Henry 'Harrison' Stafford about 1915, when she was 15 years old. They were living in Union, Monongalia, West Virginia in 1920 & 1930. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter as of 1930. Both Mabel & Harrison died in 1967.  

1907: BIRTH of JOSEPH WILLIAM GUTHRIE & JUNIOR WILLIS GUTHRIE
It's twins for George & Maude on 28 Feb 1907 complete with matching initials: JWG. They are listed with their parents in the 1910, 1920 & 1930 censuses. Their exact birth order is unknown. 

Joseph aka Joe was still living with the family in Washington County, PA in 1930 and working as a coal miner. Joe married Marie Genevieve Marvin. They had at least 1 son. No current representative from Joe's line in the DNA project.

Junior was also working as a coal miner in 1930. He is listed on that census as George Guthrie instead of Junior. He married Hazel Marie Nicely. He died in Cleveland Ohio at St. Vincent's Charity Hospital on 28 April 1980 being listed on his death record as Junior Guthrie. His wife had predeceased him.

1907: DEATH of FATHER, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN GUTHRIE 

1908: BIRTH of SHELDON ANDREW GUTHRIE
Sheldon was born on 14 October 1908 in West Virginia. He was enumerated with his parents & siblings in 1910, 1920 & 1930. He worked as a coal miner in 1930. He married Lois Pauline Martin. She passed away in 1989, and Sheldon on 28 Feb 1991. LRG lists Sheldon's wife as Louise instead of Lois. They were the parents of our DNA Project participant Daryl W. Guthrie.

Pete was born on 7 July 1916 in West Virginia. He was enumerated with his parents in 1920 and 1930. He died at the age of 20 on 8 Aug 1936. 

1918: BIRTH & DEATH of DAUGHTER, EVELINE GUTHRIE
Eveline was born on 29 August 1918 in Monongalia, West Virginia. She died on 10 September 1918.
